SPFPA International Pulls a Scam on Upcoming Disneyland Negotiations by Announcing a Ratification Date prior to Negotiations beginning

SPFPA Local 1955 Disneyland members have already voted down two (2) tentative agreements brought to them by both the SPFPA International Union headed by SPFPA President David L. Hickey as well as SPFPA Region 3 Vice President Ryan Kelly.

Now just days of the voted down tentative agreement on Saturday May 2nd the acting President of Local 1955 Patrick Lemos who replaced the SPFPA Local President Jonathan James Mares-nieves SPEAKS out announcing a new ratification date prior to negotiations.

SPFPA Local President Jonathan James Mares-nieves was removed & brought up on charges by the SPFPA International Union for speaking out against SPFPA Region 3 Vice President Ryan Kelly non communications as well as the way they were changing the ratification vote methods, days and procedures on how the last ratification vote was to be conducted despite assurances by SPFPA Region 3 Vice President Ryan Kelly that electronic voting and the length of time and days to review the tentative agreement would remain in place exactly like the first ratification vote.

With that said acting President of Local 1955 Patrick Lemos just announced an update:

Hello everyone,

Your original Security Negotiating Team will return to the bargaining table on Thursday, May 7, 2026, and Friday, May 8, 2026, if necessary. We have heard your concerns, particularly regarding pay. Your negotiating team will continue to bargain in good faith with the company to reach an acceptable contract.

Once a proposal is approved by the negotiating team, a push notification will be sent to all members outlining the details of the new agreement.

In-person voting will take place on May 10, 11, and 12, 2026, at the Hampton Inn in Anaheim, California, located at the corner of Haster and Katella. Voting hours will be from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day.

Your negotiating team is committed to securing a contract that meets the expectations of the membership and will return to the bargaining table as many times as necessary to achieve that goal.

In keeping with Local 1955 President Jonathan Nieves’s commitment to transparency, comments will remain open on this post. We look forward to his return as president.

Thank you.

2 days to negotiate instead of a week and then the contract is available right away? And we have to vote right away without seeing the contract and having room to breathe? Yeahhh this is all rigged .

Anthony Montero

How is this even possible? You’ll negotiate with the company on the 8th and have a viewable contract by the 10th?

Jeffrey Smith

Anthony Montero this doesn’t pass the smell test

Patrick, how can you have voting dates already scheduled when you haven’t even gone back to the table yet you’re only giving yourself two days for you and the company plus time to type it up and get it to us. This is so suspicious what this says is either you’re just taking whatever the Company gives us on the third round or there’s already been a deal that’s been back room signed and ready to go.

Alex Martin del Campo

Patrick, do you plan on providing, to the membership, red-lines copies of the proposal before the voting? How can you expect to vote on a proposal without reviewing it and having questions answered? Saying that a copy will be available at the voting location is unacceptable.

David Taguchi

Will we be able to see the redlined contract B4 voting starts? If not it's already a NO from me.

John Dixon

How do you negotiate on May 7, and May 8th, if necessary.  You negotiate for however long it takes. You already have a location set and dates set for voting on a contract that no one has sat down to negotiate yet, how is that even possible?

Monique Torres

ding ding ding 🛎️ you hit the nail on the head with this comment.

David Taguchi

So the only weekend date for voting is on Mother's Day. hmmmmmm

Carmen Mardan

No we’re not voting on a holiday that should be illegal

Bearded Barry

Negotiations on Thursday and Friday.

Outlining details to follow. —maybe also a FULL agreement for those that are requesting to see it PRIOR to voting…

Voting Sunday, Monday and Tuesday ??

Why can’t we use Ballot Buddy like we used before?

All of this seems rushed. I hope that all officers get a chance to to review outline AND redline agreement in such a short time.

Jeffrey Lemasters Tahir

How do you define "good faith"?

Kaulana Seto

And address scheduling!!! And what the heck does a “trial” unlimited TTO mean? How long will that occur? You know we wouldnʻt have to TTO if scheduling got it right! Address the mandatory stay. Some of us have kids and elderly parents we care for and need to be picked up at certain times. And I need to see a hardcopy of the FULL contract before we vote. Not just the “redline” version. Some of us donʻt have the time to go and sit and read the contract and then vote. Noone can make a full informed decision in that little time. Our time is important too!

Also, since this post states that Jonathan James Mares-nieves is still president, is Patrick stepping back down to guide?

Wouldn't that also mean that voting type is set by Jonathan? 🤔

Carmen Mardan

Right? Then why didn’t Jonathan write it?

Denis Jay Michael

Lol This is a copy & paste post you don’t even know what mess you are in

Mike Jay Mireles

Hopefully we aren’t negotiating $0.78 of a raise to $0.80 of a raise…I’m not with it, won’t be with it and will say hell with it ! Let’s see what this negotiations team does after hearing the many of us complain about pay

Angel Gonzalez

Why is Patrick even the president for now. Wasn’t he supposed to be taken off the board since no one voted for him the last election. And why even have a vice president if there willing to step up to the plate?

Best Guess Regarding Negotiations

Disney will offer no concessions. No changes to the contract. They are hoping for two things.

1) we are tired of having to come in before or after shift, to a location to vote, and we won’t show up.

2) we are scared to strike, and the fear of striking or not working for a short period of time, so we accept this horrible contract.

I saw this first hand with Master Services two contracts ago. First one got voted down by 51%. Disney knows if it’s that close, it could have easily gone the other way. So Disney had them vote again, and the fear of going on strike was enough to change people’s votes.

51% doesn’t mean anything to Disney. This is why I feel it was important to know what the actual voting count was. If we went to Disney and said we had a 70% turn out with 70% of those being a No vote, we have the numbers. But International doesn’t get that. They are probably use to taking the quick easy deals. Another reason why I am not happy with them.

Gene Ramirez

I’m surprised they didn’t move the “In Person” voting to Needles, Kalifornia

Amir Avery

Didn’t the people who counted the votes know the exact number of nos? Why don’t they just share it themselves instead of the union ? Clearly they counted them all

Matt Kee

Can we emergency meeting and vote to use funds to get our own access to voting buddy instead of relying on Internationals?

Pretty sure we're all fine spending $300 for this

Gabriel Alvarez

Can we see the proposed contract prior to negotiations so we know what's being presented?....

Joe Salazar

·Can someone please tell me why an exact final vote count yay vs. nay can not be given? Overwhelmingly rejected is subjective.

Also a reminder that whether you feel disrespected or undervalued with the agreements so far stay Professional when at work. The guests have nothing to do with our situation and certainly didn’t come hear to hear about them. Also negative attitudes on stage are not what we are about even if you feel the company made you this way. Your fellow castmembers and guest deserve the best of you. Show pride in who you are through this adversity it will only make you stronger.

Lou Flores

The board was instructed by international not to discuss or they will get in trouble or suspended, what I hear..

Tony Perez

Lou Flores lol that’s kinda funny if you think about. Your going to get in trouble for a position you volunteer for lol 😆

SPFPA International Pulls a Scam on Upcoming Disneyland Negotiations by Announcing a Ratification Date prior to Negotiations beginning

Joe Salazar

Lou Flores that’s why the board has been quiet and no one wanted to take over as president because they were afraid that what happened to Johnathan might happen to us. I guess it would be better for them to stay quiet than get replaced by someone the international wanted to put in like Lemos.

Brian Nagle

The nlrb states its fine to release numbers and often regulated too. Just not releasing individual votes. They state for security and transparency the total votes and vya or Nats should be tallied, reported and published

SPFPA doesn't say how we conduct our voting.  The Local Board does.  This is straight from the bylaws.  SPFPA is saying that this is for elections only and not contracts, BUT the bylaws specifically says ratification.

Our Board needs to stand up against SPFPA!

Just another example why we NEED to decertify.
